Case Study: Solving the ERP Puzzle for Lady Moon Farms – Florida Location

Lady Moon Farms runs large organic farming operations across the country, and their Florida location plays a big role in their seasonal harvest and shipping.

The Problem: A Rural Farm Needed to Connect to Company-Wide Software

The Florida farm needed a reliable connection back to their company's main business software, hosted out in California. That should be simple, but being in a rural area made it anything but.

Problem One: Limited Internet Options

There was no cable or fiber internet available at this location. Starlink was the only real option, but Starlink doesn't give customers a fixed, dedicated internet address, which is normally required to set up the secure connection businesses use to reach their software safely. That meant the standard approach simply wouldn't work here.

Problem Two: Weak Wi-Fi Throughout the Building

On top of the internet problem, the building's Wi-Fi was unreliable. Staff using handheld scanners and mobile devices kept getting disconnected, which slowed down day-to-day work and made it hard to keep accurate, real-time records.

Why Other IT Companies Couldn't Fix It

Lady Moon Farms had already tried working with other IT providers, but none of them could put together a solution that actually worked for their situation. Without a reliable connection to their software, employees were stuck doing things manually, a real problem during their busiest harvest and shipping seasons.

How We Solved It

We started by recreating their exact setup in our lab before ever showing up on-site, so we could test our solution without touching their live operations.

The core issue was that Starlink shares one internet address across many customers, which normally blocks the kind of secure connection needed to reach a remote business system. Our fix was to set up a secure connection point in the cloud: the farm's equipment connected out to it, and the software in California connected in to the same place. That created a stable, secure link between the two, without needing the kind of dedicated internet address Starlink couldn't provide.

We tested this solution thoroughly in a simulated environment before ever deploying it, so we could be confident it would hold up once it was live.

Fixing the Wi-Fi

With the connection problem solved, we turned to the building's Wi-Fi. Working with Abe Brown at Netlion Communications, we surveyed the whole building to find dead zones and sources of interference, then designed a wireless setup that covers every corner, offices, storage areas, break rooms, and outdoor equipment, with room to grow as the farm adds more devices down the road.

Running New Cabling

A strong wireless network still needs a solid wired foundation underneath it. Netlion installed and tested new network cabling throughout the building, making sure every connection was certified to meet industry standards for speed and reliability.

The Result

Everything worked the first time it went live, no bumps, no follow-up visits needed. The farm now has a secure, always-on connection to their business software, Wi-Fi that reaches every part of the building, and remote monitoring so we can catch and fix problems before they slow anyone down. All of this was completed with zero disruption to the farm's daily operations.
