Case study

A rural farm that couldn’t reach its own software.

Lady Moon Farms’ Florida location had Starlink-only internet and Wi-Fi that kept dropping. Other IT companies couldn’t make it work. It worked the first day it went live.

1The problem

The Florida farm needed a reliable connection to the company’s main business software in California. There was no cable or fiber at the site, only Starlink, and Starlink doesn’t give you the fixed internet address that secure business connections normally need.

The building’s Wi-Fi was weak too. Staff with handheld scanners kept getting dropped, so records fell behind during the busiest harvest and shipping weeks. Other IT providers had tried and couldn’t solve it.

2What we did

Tested it first. We rebuilt their exact setup in our lab so we could prove the fix before touching their live operation.

Met in the middle. We set up a secure meeting point in the cloud. The farm connects out to it, the software in California connects in, and the two talk safely without needing a fixed address.

Fixed the Wi-Fi. With Abe Brown at Netlion Communications, we surveyed the building for dead zones and designed coverage for offices, storage, break rooms and outdoor equipment.

New cabling. Netlion ran and certified new network cabling so the Wi-Fi has a solid wired backbone.

3The result

Everything worked the day it went live. The farm has an always-on secure connection to its software, Wi-Fi everywhere, and remote monitoring so we catch problems before anyone notices.

“Barry knows his stuff so you don’t have to. He and his team completed a complicated network upgrade for our farm warehouse, finishing on time and within budget. They are our Tech Support and network admin from now on.”
